Pain is a global health concern that requires the attention of the healthcare services. This study aimed to evaluate nurses’ knowledge, skills on pain management for caring post – transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) as well as explore the relationship between knowledge and skill regarding pain management for post – TURP patients. This study was conducted on 230 nurses who have worked at two public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city from April to June 2024. The result showed that the majority of nurses were female, had a mean age of 37.3 years and an average of 13.7 years of direct clinical experience. Of these, 57.4% of nurses have attended the previous pain training course. The majority of nurses lack knowledge regarding pain management with 86.5%. The study also indicated that nurses’ educational level, knowledge and attitude toward pain management are significant predictive factors of nurses’ skills on pain management when caring post – TURP patients. Knowledge on pain management had a very strong positive correlation with attitude (r = 0.820, p < 0.001) as well as skills (r = 0.91, p < 0.001). Besides, there was a very strong and positive correlation between attitude and skills on pain management (r = 0.91, p < 0.001). There was a mediating relationship between knowledge, attitude and skills on pain management, attitude played a partial mediating role between knowledge and skills. In summary, the study indicates a need for targeted educational interventions to bridge the gap between knowledge and skills in pain management, particularly in non-pharmacological strategies, to improve overall care for post-TURP patients.
This paper is devoted to guiding parents in organizing classrooms and bedrooms for their children, ensuring that they have the most reasonable position to rest and study. That is how to design, arrange, and select items in a room to serve two children of the same sex, aged from 6 to 18. Arrange the bed to suit the cramped housing situation. Install study tables and chairs so that children can sit and study comfortably. Choose to buy a bookshelf and hang it on the wall so that it is steady and within reach of your children's operation and use. Essential daily items are arranged neatly so that children can conveniently take them out, use them, and store them in the right place. Thanks to having an ideal room to rest, study, and conveniently use equipment, children will develop well in literature, physical skills, and aesthetics and will always love their family. Later, when the children grow up, no matter where they go, the image of the beautiful little room of their childhood will always be kept in their memories. The interior design of the classroom and bedroom for two small children in a family is fully and clearly shown in 3D images by us. We have presented how to arrange and install items in the room so that everyone can apply this design to their family situation.
Athletes often need to have good English skills to communicate with foreigners for different purposes. As known, many athletes are not able to speak English fluently. To enhance the national athletes’ English proficiency, the governmental institutions arrange various English courses for them. This study reflects the long-term (over seven years) teaching process of English to the athletes in terms of the English course content, namely General English and Sports English, topics, local teacher vs foreign teacher, teaching methods, evaluation criteria, implementation of visual means and AI. The study results are based on the teachers’ observational method and students’ feedback. Most students liked the English course because they could speak English through discussions and conversations and learn new vocabulary, including General English and Sports English (ESP). The students liked the lessons’ topics (e.g. hotel/restaurant reservation, shopping, ordering food, and sports injuries) which were usually taught using PPTs, handouts, Youtube, and Kahoot. AI as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grammarly, Alexa, etc. was recently implemented in the teaching of athletes as well, facilitating the teaching and learning process and making it more effective and fun. Most athlete students were satisfied to have both a local and foreign teacher for the former could provide explanations in Chinese and the latter could help them to overcome the language barrier and gain confidence in speaking English. Most of the athlete students were motivated to improve their English to communicate internationally.
Based on previous surveys, it is evident that Food Technology students at Thu Dau Mot University face challenges in learning English, such as limited vocabulary, weak grammar, inaccurate pronunciation, and poor listening and speaking skills. These can lead to declining academic performance and restricted career opportunities. The paper highlights the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in overcoming these challenges. AI tools like Gemini Google can provide personalized learning experiences, improve interaction with the language, and offer immediate feedback. Gemini is specifically chosen due to its free access, Vietnamese interface, and support for over 40 languages. This study demonstrates that Gemini is an effective tool for undergraduate students, particularly those in Food Technology who have weak English backgrounds, to improve their English skills. Gemini improves vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading, and writing. It offers simple instructions and ideas in both English and Vietnamese, making it ideal for beginners, selflearners, and people with limited English proficiency. Unlike traditional learning, Gemini provides access at any time and from any location, as well as the ability to overcome shyness and blunders. Gemini's large, up-to-date database and user-friendly interface enable personalized learning paths and can be paired with other methods for best language learning. The study also proposes various strategies for utilizing Gemini Google to improve English learning effectiveness in areas like vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, and creating a positive learning environment. Furthermore, Gemini's value extends beyond languages, offering assistance in a variety of other areas.
English language proficiency is crucial for academic and professional success, with effective communication skills playing a pivotal role. Collaborative teaching methods, particularly group work, can significantly enhance students' creativity, evaluation, synthesis, analysis, and comparison, as well as problem-solving, essential for developing collaborative abilities. Furthermore, non-English major students often struggle to develop their speaking skills due to limited practice opportunities. This study addresses this challenge by implementing group-work activities in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. A mixed-methods approach was used to gather data including quantitative data collected through a questionnaire administered to 71 non-major students at Dong Nai Technology University and qualitative data came from semi-structured interviews. The results showed that group work significantly improved students' fluency, coherence, and confidence. Students reported increased motivation and engagement in speaking activities. These findings suggest that group-work activities effectively enhance speaking skills for non-English major students.
Binh Duong Province is one of the leading regions in Vietnam in attracting foreign investment, with thousands of expatriates living and working in the province. The demand for an international education environment (in-country study abroad) among parents and students in the province is increasing. Additionally, the current globalization trend and international integration demand a high-quality workforce with adaptability and international integration skills, requiring educational institutions to innovate to keep up with the rapidly changing society. Given the situation and trends, establishing an international high school under Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU) is necessary to meet the demand for high-quality human resources in Binh Duong Province, serving the economic, social development, and international integration of the province, the Southeast region, and the whole country. Furthermore, the establishment of an international high school by TDMU also contributes to enhancing TDMU’s position, image, and reputation within the national and international education systems. This article analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities of TDMU in establishing an international high school, thereby providing implementation directions in the context of the economic and social situation in Binh Duong Province.
The article explores the influence of the mother tongue (Vietnamese) on practicing to develop first-year students’ English writing skills at Thu Dau Mot University. Analytical data was collected from 100 first-year students majoring in English Language at the Faculty of Foreign Languages - Thu Dau Mot University. Research results show that students are still greatly influenced by Vietnamese (first language) in the process of practicing English writing skills. Among the students surveyed, up to 58.4% said they were still influenced by the way of thinking in Vietnamese, and then switched to English to follow the writing style of Vietnamese. … The remaining % said they had practiced writing in English through many writing activities at English centers and had practiced writing through thinking in English. The rest of the article proposes some solutions to help students overcome the above barriers to develop effective writing skills.
In this study, we examine students at Thu Dau Mot University specializing in Food Technology’s speaking and listening skills in English. We conducted a survey on 59 students majoring in Food Technology using the questionnaire approach. Students struggle to develop macro-English abilities like speaking and listening, as seen by their responses. mastering English grammar, vocabulary, and other micro-skills might be challenging. The findings indicate that significant obstacles to learning listening and speaking skills include a lousy sound system, a lack of a communicative context, a limited vocabulary, a lack of cultural understanding, and a fear of making mistakes in communication. The findings also demonstrate that students’ limited exposure to English and weak phonological skills are to blame for their difficulty acquiring pronunciation. Many words are long and complicated, making learning and recalling word parts like verbs, nouns, and adjectives challenging. Many words are also difficult to pronounce. Learning the grammar of verbs and articles is challenging for students. When the challenges are solved, this research aims to effective foreign language learning.
This article presents the results of a study on the current application of Project-based learning (PBL) in the teaching of English productive skills to students at the Foreign Trade University - Ho Chi Minh City Campus and how students can improve them. The research also provides insights into the expectations of students and entrepreneurs on that matter. The research group used the 5-point Likert scale in a questionnaire to collect data from students and interviewed FTU - HCMC’s English teachers and entrepreneurs to give further suggestions. Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to analyze whether or not there is a significant difference in students’ English productive skills before and after using PBL in English language learning. This study found a significant difference in speaking skills of FTU - HCMC students before and after participating in PBL activities. The students improved their comprehension, range and the ability to deliver their ideas to the target reader for writing skills. However, no difference was found in their content, cohesion, and accuracy. Interviewed teachers and entrepreneurs supported the implementation of PBL in schools. Overall, PBL is encouraged in the settings of higher education institutions.
Premarital sex is one of the issues that female migrant workers currently face. This increases the risk of sexual and reproductive health issues among this vulnerable group. The article's goal is to comprehend and explain the attitude of female migrant workers regarding premarital sex while also analyzing the factors that influence their attitudes toward this issue. The theories of social control and migration are the foundation for this objective. The combined approach used in this paper collects quantitative data from 420 female migrant workers and qualitative data from seven female migrant workers who participated in in-depth interviews. According to research findings, female migrant workers are considerably more agreeable to premarital sex if both are voluntary, but they do not feel ready to discuss premarital sex with those around them. The level of education and length of residence are factors that affect how female migrant workers feel about the premarital sex concern. In order to enhance their autonomy and reduce risky sexual behaviors, we can thus propose that female migrant workers, especially those with a residence length of more than five years, should have greater reproductive health capacity, including reproductive health knowledge and skills.
ABSTRACT With the ever-increasing development of technology, online teaching is more readily accepted as a viable component in teaching and learning, and blended learning, the combining of online and face-to-face learning, is becoming commonplace in many higher education institutions. Definitely, challenges cannot be denied; however, it has been suggested and deployed globally including Vietnam. To some extent, both teachers and students present their positive points of view on this learning approach. However, there are a huge number of students expressing their lack of understanding the blended learning, which negatively affects their attitudes towards deployment of this learning approach as well as particular reference to motivation and interest. This paper is to assess the English majors’ perceptions on blended learning environment at tertiary level, which especially affects their learning the writing skills. Results of the study are absolutely helpful for the author to understand the students’ perceptions of the effects on the blended learning; then, she can give some suggestions to enhance the learning of writing skills in the light of blended learning. ABSTRACT Sexual harassment in public places is a matter of concern in Vietnam. The purpose of this article is to understand and explain gender differences in perceptions of sexual harassment in public places, which is based on Brooks Gardner's gender interaction perspective. The study used both quantitative analysis based on the Chi-square test procedure and analysis of in-depth interview data coded by NVivo software. Research results showed that there were gender differences in the perceptions of students in the Southeast region in terms of the forms, causes, and consequences of sexual harassment in public places. To improve understanding and reduce gender differences, it is necessary to organize communication activities to raise awareness and skills to prevent this evil in universities. In the trend of globalization and international integration of our country today, learning foreign languages in general and English in particular are aimed at achieving communication purposes. Therefore, learning the linguistic knowledge including vocabulary is also for the purpose of developing learners' communication skills. The non-majored English training for students at the Foreign Language Center - Thu Dau Mot University is directed to the effectiveness of communication, the most prominent is the method of learning vocabulary through the application of Morphology and Morpheme; At the same time, the method of learning meanings of words in the context and application of newly-learned words in the practice of communication skills will be also focused.
