THE Impact Ranking reflects the impact and contribution of universities around the world, including Vietnam, to the community towards the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ranking results of Vietnamese universities in this ranking and the sustainable development goals that they are pursuing. The results show that from only one Vietnamese university among 467 global universities ranked in 2019, there are now 13 Vietnamese universities out of 1,936 global universities in the rankings. In addition to the mandatory SDG17, most Vietnamese universities mainly focus on the 8 SDGs related to economy, health, education, peace, equality and community (SDG1, SDG3, SDG4, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10, SDG11, SDG16). However, few universities focus on the goals related to poverty and environmental resources (SDG2, SDG6, SDG7, SDG9, SDG12, SDG13, SDG14, SDG15). This situation poses great responsibility and challenge for Vietnamese universities in accompanying the world in realizing the goal of sustainable development. This study is a reference resource for Vietnamese universities to identify sustainable development goals that should be prioritized in their short-term and long-term plans when participating in THE Impact rankings, in order to contribute to building a peaceful, just and prosperous society
Traditional education in Southern Vietnam developed through two main periods: the era of the Nguyen Lords (1698-1802) and the reign of the Nguyen emperors (1802-1862). This article focuses on education development in Southern Vietnam during the reign of the Nguyen emperors. Despite the numerous difficulties experienced during the decline of the feudal regime, the Nguyen emperors made significant efforts to promote education in the South. Binh Duong Province is one of the regions with very significant population and labor force growth. The development and transformation of the labor structure have positively contributed to the province's labor productivity growth and economic growth, while at the same time contributing to the development of Vietnam in general. This paper combines descriptive statistics, comparisons, contrasts, and trend assessments to identify the characteristics, changes, and transitions in the labor structure of Binh Duong Province from 2015 to 2023. The results show a sustained increase in population and labor force; the labor structure has moved significantly away from the agricultural sector; demand for technical and assembly workers increased sharply; the number of service and sales workers steadily increased and became mainstream. The challenge for Binh Duong Province is that while the group of highly skilled workers is growing, the increase is not evenly distributed; the group of highly skilled professionals is growing rapidly while the group of intermediate-level professionals and secretaries is declining due to replacement by technology.
In recent years, asymmetric gold nanoparticles have attracted a lot of attention from researchers owing to their unique properties and varied applications in many fields. In this study, gold nanobranches were prepared using a one-step, green reducing method, with the HEPES buffer acting as both a reducing agent and surfactant. The formation of gold nanoparticles was evaluated using UV-Vis spectroscopy by controlling several practical factors, including the volume of gold salt precursor, the concentration of HEPES buffer, and the solution pH. The morphologies and crystallization of the gold nanobranches were characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that under the optimal synthesis conditions, namely 250 µL of 5 mM HAuCl₄, 0.10 M HEPES, and a pH of 7.5, most of the gold particles in the colloidal solution exhibited multiple branches, with an average size ranging from 20 to 35 nm and high crystal density. This study presented a simple synthesis method utilizing eco-friendly substances to replace conventional reducing agents, contributing to the sustainable development of nanotechnology.
This study developed a dataset on land cover to analyze the continuous urban land extension in Buôn Ma Thuột City, located in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, from 2000 to 2023. The analysis employed object-based image analysis (OBIA) for backward classification and calculated expansion indices. The results reveal that the total urban land area increased by 22.75% over two decades, despite an average annual population growth rate of only 1.91%. The spatial growth exhibited relatively uniform growth in all directions, but it was most concentrated in the urban core and the northern and eastern parts of Hoa Thuan, Tan Loi, Tan An, Tan Hoa, and Tan Lap wards. This expansion included edge development (6.69%), leapfrog expansion (18.39%), and infill increase (5.44%). Driving factors, analyzed through Pearson correlation coefficients, indicate that urban land growth between 2000 and 2023 was positively influenced by GDP, urban population, and total population but was inversely correlated with the poverty rate. This study provides quantitative methodologies for better understanding urban land dynamics and offers practical strategies for sustainable urban development.

This work presents a benchmarking study between Lagamine, an in-house developed finite element (FE) code, and COMSOL Multiphysics® (Comsol) commercial software in thermal analyses to investigate their capability in modeling complex manufacturing processes. For this purpose, two case studies, including a NAFEMS benchmark for heat transfer with convection and a Directed Energy Deposition (DED) of a bulk sample, were used as test cases. The simulation models using Lagamine and Comsol solvers for each case were described. The underlying algorithms and theories, as well as the soft-ware development, are investigated. The computational results indicate slight differ-ences between Lagamine and Comsol solutions in both case studies. For the NAFEMS test case, the results obtained with Comsol solver appear to be less dependent on the mesh size than those obtained with Lagamine. For the DED test case, within the chosen configurations of Lagamine and Comsol codes, the maximum difference in the highest peak temperatures obtained from the two codes is about 20%. From an engineering point of view, it is suggested to determine parameters of the FE model consistently with the selected FE code to provide the best match with experimental observations.
