The study aims to investigate the learning attitude of Chinese-major students who are studying non-major English at Thu Dau Mot University toward non-major English language learning. By surveying 95 randomly selected Chinese language students from Courses D21TQ and D22TQ, it was found that the majority of students had a normal attitude towards learning non-major English, accounting for 76%, while students had a normal interest in learning, accounting for 75.8%, and the biggest difficulty was learning English vocabulary, accounting for 70.8%. The article proposes solutions such as innovating teaching methods, enhancing vocabulary practice, enhancing communication skills and supporting students to learn proactively, and also contributes useful suggestions to improve the quality of teaching and learning non-major English at Thu Dau Mot University.
This study explores the motivation and challenges faced by English majored students at Thu Dau Mot University when learning with native English-speaking teachers (NESTs) and non-native English-speaking teachers (NNESTs). Using a quantitative approach, a structured questionnaire was distributed to 50 participants to gather data on their experiences, preferences, and perceptions. The findings showed that students were positively motivated to learn English with both NESTs and NNESTs, although the sources of motivation differed. While NESTs are appreciated for their native pronunciation, interactive teaching methods, and cultural authenticity, NNESTs are valued for their clear explanations, shared language background, and supportive attitudes. The study also highlights challenges associated with each teacher group. It was found that students struggled with understanding native accents and feel intimidated by the fluency of NESTs, while they experienced limited cultural exposure and pronunciation variation with NNESTs. The results suggest that a balanced and inclusive approach to English language teaching - drawing from the advantages of both teacher types - can enhance the quality of language education in Vietnamese contexts.

KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND FALL PREVENTION PRACTICE AMONG NURSES AT LEVEL II GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS IN HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM

Fall prevention represents a vital clinical indicator in healthcare settings and serves as a fundamental element of patient safety. This study aimed to evaluate nurses’ knowledge, attitude, and practices on fall prevention in caring for patients as well as explore the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and practices on fall prevention in patient care. This study was conducted on 312 nurses working in four selected level II government hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City from August to October 2024. The majority of nurses were female, with diplomas or BSNs, averaging 39.2 years old and 15.8 years of clinical experience. 77.9% attended a fall prevention training course. Most nurses showed moderate knowledge (66.7%) and practices (mean score of 3.26/5) regarding fall prevention, while their attitudes were generally positive (mean score of 3.92/5). Strong correlations were found between knowledge, attitude, and practices, as well as with prior training and education level (p < 0.001). Factors such as age, work experience, education, and training were predictive of fall prevention practices. Furthermore, attitude partially mediated the relationship between knowledge and practice. In summary, the study highlights the importance of fall prevention training, improving knowledge and attitudes, and considering factors like work experience and education in nursing practices. The mediating role of attitude suggests that fostering a positive attitude is key to better fall prevention practices, emphasizing the need for targeted educational programs that enhance both knowledge and attitudes to improve clinical outcomes.
Pain is a global health concern that requires the attention of the healthcare services. This study aimed to evaluate nurses’ knowledge, skills on pain management for caring post – transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) as well as explore the relationship between knowledge and skill regarding pain management for post – TURP patients. This study was conducted on 230 nurses who have worked at two public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city from April to June 2024. The result showed that the majority of nurses were female, had a mean age of 37.3 years and an average of 13.7 years of direct clinical experience. Of these, 57.4% of nurses have attended the previous pain training course. The majority of nurses lack knowledge regarding pain management with 86.5%. The study also indicated that nurses’ educational level, knowledge and attitude toward pain management are significant predictive factors of nurses’ skills on pain management when caring post – TURP patients. Knowledge on pain management had a very strong positive correlation with attitude (r = 0.820, p < 0.001) as well as skills (r = 0.91, p < 0.001). Besides, there was a very strong and positive correlation between attitude and skills on pain management (r = 0.91, p < 0.001). There was a mediating relationship between knowledge, attitude and skills on pain management, attitude played a partial mediating role between knowledge and skills. In summary, the study indicates a need for targeted educational interventions to bridge the gap between knowledge and skills in pain management, particularly in non-pharmacological strategies, to improve overall care for post-TURP patients.
International integration not only brings opportunities but also challenges for teaching and learning English. Like other universities, Thu Dau Mot University focuses on teaching English for non-majored students of different faculties to meet the curriculum as well as provide knowledge for them to be confident when communicating. However, teaching English to non-majors still faces a lot of difficulties due to a number of factors. This study aims to understand the attitudes of non-English major students toward learning English at TDMU. Quantitative methods are used through survey questionnaires related to students' attitudes toward learning English and factors affecting students' attitudes toward learning English, and also finding out their wishes when participating in English learning activities in class. The questionnaire was sent to 190 students of different levels (levels 3-5). The results of the study show that most students are aware of the importance of learning English but they are not highly motivated to learn. According to the analysis results, students do not have a positive attitude towards learning English for the following reasons: They haven't spent time studying because they have to work part-time job for paying tuition fee; The purpose of using this language after graduation has not been determined, and they haven’t found a suitable learning method. From these findings, some solutions have been discussed to improve students' English learning attitudes, help lecturers make appropriate adjustments to improve students' learning outcomes and meet the standards school output as well as meet the needs of society.
Currently, to make human life more convenient and easier, many utility services have been provided. Among them, online food ordering applications with high coverage and diverse forms become prominent. This research aims to examine the factors influencing the intention of using online food ordering applications among students in Ho Chi Minh City. Using a multivariate linear regression model and the Ordinary Least Squares method (OLS), the research team analyzed primary data based on 120 valid survey sheets collected from students studying in HCMC. The research results indicate that there are seven factors influencing the intention to use (ITU) online food ordering applications, including: (1) Ease of use (EOU), (2) Convenience (CV), (3) Aesthetic appeal (AA), (4) Price expectations (PE), (5) Social influence (SI), (6) Perceived risk (PR), and (7) Habits (HB). Among them, the three factors with the greatest impact on the students’ intention are ease of use, aesthetic appeal, and social influence. Based on the test results, the study proposes a management implication to help food delivery service providers enhance service quality, suggest development directions, and make suitable strategies for potential target customers. E-learning has many exceptional advantages in teaching and training, and it has been applied in many universities and colleges in Dong Nai with a variety of scopes and levels; especially at a time with the motto "learning everywhere at any time", Dong Nai province sees this as a good opportunity to accelerate digital transformation in education. Simultaneously, underlining that online teaching is not only a temporary solution during epidemic seasons, but also an important way to improve educational quality. The research is carried out to examine the realities of online training in higher education in order to satisfy the demands of society's need for high-quality human resources. In addition, lecturer questionnaire and student questionnaire design would be used to collect quantitative data to answer research questions through the employment of questionnaire. The survey result showed that an average score of 4.03 to 4.19 with the “agree” level in student survey and another 4.19 to 4.29 in lecturer survey. It is indicated that the attitudes of students and lecturers on the survey items are very similar through two surveys. As a result, e-learning plays an important role in conveying the knowledge to all students at anytime and anywhere.
This study which entitles “Learners’ Attitudes towards the Project Works in promoting English learner autonomy: a Case Study at Foreign Trade University-Ho Chi Minh Campus” was conducted with the following objectives: (1) to investigate students’ attitudes towards the use of project works to enhance their autonomous learning in an English speaking class; (2) to find out to what extent students believe that using project works can promote their autonomous learning; and (3) to figure out difficulties that learners have during the time they conduct Video making project. The study population was 73 second-year students who took the course English listening and speaking 2. An open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview were employed as research instruments for data collection. The result firstly shows that the students have positive attitudes towards the use of project works in English class that may have enhanced their autonomous learning. Then, it reveals students’ preference in having more project works to do in their English classes. Nonetheless, using project works’ evaluation as one of criteria for course assessment is a controversial issue among these students. In addition, students’ interest in utilizing information technology devices is remarked as one of the significant findings in this study. Furthermore, some difficulties when conducting projects are found including time constraints, teamwork conflicts, cultural differences and technology problems. In short, because of students’ positive attitudes toward Video making project in enhancing their autonomous learning, it is suggested that teachers should consider applying the project in their language teaching.
Premarital sex is one of the issues that female migrant workers currently face. This increases the risk of sexual and reproductive health issues among this vulnerable group. The article's goal is to comprehend and explain the attitude of female migrant workers regarding premarital sex while also analyzing the factors that influence their attitudes toward this issue. The theories of social control and migration are the foundation for this objective. The combined approach used in this paper collects quantitative data from 420 female migrant workers and qualitative data from seven female migrant workers who participated in in-depth interviews. According to research findings, female migrant workers are considerably more agreeable to premarital sex if both are voluntary, but they do not feel ready to discuss premarital sex with those around them. The level of education and length of residence are factors that affect how female migrant workers feel about the premarital sex concern. In order to enhance their autonomy and reduce risky sexual behaviors, we can thus propose that female migrant workers, especially those with a residence length of more than five years, should have greater reproductive health capacity, including reproductive health knowledge and skills.
ABSTRACT With the ever-increasing development of technology, online teaching is more readily accepted as a viable component in teaching and learning, and blended learning, the combining of online and face-to-face learning, is becoming commonplace in many higher education institutions. Definitely, challenges cannot be denied; however, it has been suggested and deployed globally including Vietnam. To some extent, both teachers and students present their positive points of view on this learning approach. However, there are a huge number of students expressing their lack of understanding the blended learning, which negatively affects their attitudes towards deployment of this learning approach as well as particular reference to motivation and interest. This paper is to assess the English majors’ perceptions on blended learning environment at tertiary level, which especially affects their learning the writing skills. Results of the study are absolutely helpful for the author to understand the students’ perceptions of the effects on the blended learning; then, she can give some suggestions to enhance the learning of writing skills in the light of blended learning. Men's grooming products are very diverse and plentiful in the world today. In recent years, Vietnamese men have approached beauty trend, the old conception of beauty is also gradually changing. The demand for male beauty in Vietnam in recent years indicates that men's awareness of beauty products. The potential for grooming products for men in Vietnam is huge, but in-depth studies on this topic are limited. It is important to have specific studies analyzing the consumption of grooming products for men in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the potential of these products for business benefits. The study collected data from 458 respondents are male, analyzed the factors affecting consumer attitudes, thereby opening a specific view on men's grooming consumption in Vietnam.
